So the army kid returns.
Well, after almost five months, you would think the kid would change a little. Well, he has, but not much. So I think the parent's job is to love the kid no matter what. He left on Monday July 9th, and got back on November 29, Thursday. He says he is going to write a book about his experience but has not bothered since he got home. He was stranded in Atlanta Airport due to cancellation of flights. The thunder storm decided to alter his traveling plans. So he calls me, as the army quit answering his calls after 11 pm there time, and I told him just to sleep at the airport and get on another flight.
Basic training is hard, both for the body and the mind. He said that for three weeks, the recruits were yelled at 24/7. We were able to follow a little on FB.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Alpha-Gator-1-61st-Infantry-Regiment/284017021657675?ref=ts&fref=ts We flew out to South Carolina for the graduation ceremony. Red eye flight to Columbia, South Carolina, Tuesday, for the Wednesday graduation ceremony and Friday back. Kurtis has mono, so we asked Jesse to come and hang out, and Jesse being the friend that he is, comes thru. His battle buddy David, is from Texas, and is in the reserve. Then if was off to Virginia for his training. Of course, he did not tell us that we could drive him, so he takes the government bus.

Army start
So the army kid left today. What a bittersweet day. When the journey of high school begins, every parent has an idea how that journey should go. Well, we took one road in the beginning, and ended up here, completely unexpected. He joined the army and is now ready for basic training.

THE Army
So tomorrow Will is suppose to sign into the Army. What do you do with your child who thinks he knows EVERYTHING, and will not take any advice???? The legal signature is such a huge step, and guess we have to let him make his decisions. He is a man, but in so many ways he is still that little boy who wants to cut off his nose to "spite our faces", which sounds so ridiculous, as it is his face that is without a nose. Alas, sigh away and pray for the best.
You know mom loves you, and wish you the best.

Chickens and things
Guess it is time to blog about chickens and things. Last May, my good friend, Diane hatched several (maybe about 12) chicks and I got permission to keep chickens. Two chicks came home after they were old enough to leave the brooder. I got a naked neck and a sweet yellow/brown chicken. The one on the left is the Naked Neck that we called Cheep, cus it kept cheeping, and the one on the right we called Betsy Ross. Well, we ended up not keeping them both. Zoe, the wonderdog manage to get a hold of Betsy, and thinking that it was a squirrel, being fuzzy and everything, killed it. Many tears later, I got another. Cheep turned out to be a rooster. One morning it started to crow, about 6 am no less. I thought, maybe it is just a hen phase, as the internet says that some hens crow a little. Well, days later, it crowed louder and louder, and always about 6 am. I called Diane, and she took the roo back.
