That is really a misleading title, as I do not shop, much less black friday. It is the day after thanksgiving 2014 and we have so much to be grateful for. Yesterday we had a house full of guests, and they were
Rita, my friend from New Horizon
Tiffany, her niece from Nebraska, and her dog Big, who Gracie had a great time chasing She mad this great fruit salad with mint, ginger and pomagranates
Mom and Dad
Stella, Martin and Allen Tong from next door Stella made this great tofu and guac dish, plus a bowl of eggplant that was amazing
Eddie brought the beans but had to go, his mother's friend was sick and he did not stay
Nancy was sick, just dropped the pies off and left, too bad. We know her from church
Ron Hill came by kind of late and just had pie, he is such a sweet heart.
Mary ate with her brother at the fire station, but it was nice to have her in our thoughts
Junie Stephenson, no Mike. It was strange, last turkey day he was still with us and now he is dead. June made muffins
Sara and Sam Macy came by before dinner and had me look at her tooth, #25, and she had some stains and thought she had a cavity so her dad John emailed us and we hadd a look.
Ian Brubaker came by and I had a look at his tooth, he had a chipped filling but it can wait til December when he comes back from school.
We baked a 22 pound turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce in the shape of brain, mashed potatoes, gravy and all the other stuff from above It was quite good and mom just wanted to talk to Stella. I think she is lonely, no one to talk to
So there are still three cats, two stray cats, and Gracie and the three hens, plus Kurt. He is still not finishing the UC apps, but hey, it is his life.......
My dear husband is so sweet, he made the stuffing, cutting, cooking, and carved the huge turkey. What a man, think I will keep him

October 1, 2014
Since the last post, months flew by. The summer came and went, and now it is fall. It was the hottest summer that anyone can remember, with little rain all year, and temperature in the 90's for several weeks. Not that I didn't like it but it was so hot that we had the fan on sometimes. Yes, no complaining here, as it is hot all over other countries, at least we had dry heat.
Lovely came and went, and had to shorten the trip, because of Isaiah, who did not study for his entrance exam and did not do well so he had to go to high school with a TENNIS program, and hence the need to get back to Taiwan earlier.
Side note, my back is hurting me today, has been on and off pain. What to do

Vacation in Palm Springs
It has been months since I posted. Lovely and family has come and gone, and we are having a small vacation in Palm Springs. She came in Jamuary and left three weeks later. It was so nice to have her here. She went to San Francisco and then to San Diego too. They did not take mom and dad, which was good because dad would not have made it. After a lot of fighting, we finally got several care takers. I also took dad to the VA and now we have care Sherrie from the VA and Kelly that we pay. Sherrie comes Mon, Tue Thurs and Fri from 8 30 - 12 30, and Kelly comes on Wednesdays, same time. I do the rest, and dad's stomach is better so that he does not have 10 poops a day. Although he is not more aware of his surroundings, he seems to be ok with it. Mom is better too with caretakers although i need to be more patient with her.
So Friday, we left about 8 30 and drove to Palms Springs, stopping at Cabazon to shop, with Kurt and KR buying shoes and jeans. I did not buy anything. We stopped at El Taco Asado off of Restaurant.com, on El Cielo, and it was good. Then we checked into the MOTEL 6, where the dog is always welcome. We had room 127 in the back. We had dinner at Hamburger Mary's where the burgers were 16 bucks each !!!!!
This morning, we got up and walked the dog, and then we tried to hike the Museum Trail, but it was too hard to get the dog in the backpack, and anyway, KR had hurt his back, and then kicked the cement bump on the sidewalk, so his back went out again, and he was not in the mood to hike. His back had been really hurting him the last two weeks, cannot surf, hard to work too. So Kurt and I hiked almost all the way up and then we came down, had some breakfast at Jack in the Box and then went swimming at the hotel pool. Then we went walking to the main part of town and had a date shake at the greatest shake in town, then we ate at Sammy G's Tuscan Grill, with a restaurant.com coupon of course. Then it was another walk to Ralph's, like last night to get another beer. It was such a lovely evening. It was 84 degrees today !!!

FIVE MORE DAYS
It is five more days til my sister shows up. I was pretty tired from changing diapers today, and also had to go to the IRS for some paperwork issues, which turned out to be resolved last May. I spoke to an agent early December and was told to bring several documents before coming down to Long Beach. Well, I am just glad that I didn't need to return. Working with the government can be a nightmare.
Dad is less and less cognizant of what is going on around him. Although he is still eating by himself and can follow simple commands if you repeat them several times. He can't figure out if he has to poop or pee, which makes it difficult to keeping him clean. I thought what a blessing it is that he had one testicle removed several years back, otherwise it is more difficult to wipe him clean.
We are going to see Auntie Mary tomorrow. Dad will not know his own sister. It is sad, but being 95 1/2 what can we expect. Mom and I had a chat about the eventuality, and she said that she is not going to be lonely, as she is alone already, since dad lost the ability to hold a conversation. He was never a great conversationist anyway, and now he hardly talks. He says often he is trying to figure out what he is trying to think and wonders why things seem so confusing to him. I just tell him not to worry about it.
Lovely says Alan chipped his tooth in a scooter accident today. I think he will need a crown. Too bad. He had 8 stitches, the poor guy. Seems like riding in TW is dangerous to your health, especially the way Alan rides. Last year this time, he got into a scooter accident too and was all banged up. Too bad Lovely does not have a smart phone, she can really post some good photos.
I am going to start boxing up the books and extra clothes that mom does not wear anymore. It seems so sad that soon dad will not be with us. I gotta remember that he will be in HEAVEN with a new body and no more confusion, and he will probably see MUTT LEE, and Brindi. AND LUCKY !!!!
Kurt says I am too involved in his life. He does not seem to be motivated enough, and yet he is the most motivated of all my children. Will has been asking some really rude questions about the real estate deal, and I am tired to be the punching bag of all this bad energy.
