Margaret Chadwick firmly believed in outdoor ed, so that all the seniors are suppose to go on a three week trip. But many who do not like living out in the "wild" decide that they should not be made to go, so the school made up the Community Service side line thing that kids can do and not go on the trip. School used to charge for the trip, but a few years back decided to just increase everyone's tuition and not charge.
The KID, yup, the same kid, did not finish his math and we were just so frustrated with how the year is turningout, so we said he cannot go if he did not finish. Well, I had to call Carol Bernstein, as Bobby is ONLY going if Kurt goes, and if Kurt did not go, Bobby was going to break his arm so he didn't have to go. Really!!!!
Friday Kurt finally starts working on his math, lesson 7 or something, or 8 and gets it finished to send. He is on 9 and has 10, 11 AND 12 to go. We thought 11 was the last. So Saturday night comes around and he is not finished packing. He gets side tracked and then at 8 30 says he is going out. I say NO WAY, JOSE, as you are not done, and then said if he does go out, he WILL NOT go on the trip. 11 PM he wakes me up and says that he has to go to Bobby's to get some zip lock baggies, big ones. I thought he said trash bags, as we have some large ones too but he didn't know about it.
So we drive up, with me in fuzzy slippers and night gown, and he stays about 30 minutes while he loads a kindle that he is borrowing from Bobby and I am almost asleep, trying not to be so pissed at him. Then I guess he had his friend Jen come over while I was asleep, don't know what they did, but something about the dog.
Sunday comes around and he is the latest one, while Laura Abrahamson is texting me making sure that we are coming. We stop at Jack and got a bunch of sandwiches. Then they are off.
It is weird, I remember years ago I thought I would really like "empty nest" and now it is almost here, I am really missing Kurt's presence. NOT his hysteronics nor rudeness, but when he is talking and cooperating, and talking to his parents, or sharing his thoughts on song lyrics or generally being funny. Guess he is growing up, and it is so different at home without him.

Natasha
Today Natasha died.
I just cant believe my friend of 45 years died. She had breast cancer and had double mastectemy but the cancer came back with a vengence and was all over. Her liver had started to fail, and she was getting ascites buildup that required draining, then jaundice took over and probably her systems just all shut down and she went out.
I had seen her yesterday, and she was still lucid and talking, albeit somewhat haltingly as her throat was dry. She had a nasal feeding tube. Her ascites prevented the G tube insertion. On Thursday, they went down to Torrance to have it drained, and then the nurse came and said that it is ok to give her 4 tabs of Oxycontin, or something, as one was not working, neither was two.
So Peter gave her a dose at 4 30 AM, and he took Ian back to the airport, he came in on Friday. We thought she might wake up with pain about 8 30, but 9 30 came and went and she was still ok. Then she started to wheeze, and we thought we had to take her to ER. When I tried to sit her up, her eyes were starting to stare, and the breathing was very shallow, about 4 breathes per 20 seconds. That is about 1/2 the average. Pete called 911 and they told me to do rescue breathing, but I could not get a seal, and she was gurgling a bit. The paremedics came, and by the heart monitor, I knew she was going, but Pete wanted them to take her to Torrance. I said to him that she didn't want anything done, and he thought she was still savable. He thought she would last a bit, like days to die, but I realize that she was just about gone. I told him to come and take her hand, and then she flat lined.
It is so weird, that she was having lunch with me and only on April 14, today is Mother's Day, Sunday May 10, and she is gone. Just three weeks. I told Ian to write her a letter and he did, and it was a beautiful letter. The mortuary took a bit to come and they will tell us if any company can harvest any organs. I will help Pete and go down to Green Hills with him tomorrow.
On another note, Kurt is in love with Jen Anne Harbeck.

So yesterday the weather for you was high of 14 and low of 2. Either you survived the cold or swear that you will never go back to visit cold places again. We had rain yesterday, and most of last night, and looks like today will be very wet. I even looked up the definition of "quinzee", and hope you had the chance to make one AND were brave enough to SLEEP in one. When you do finally post, just add your posts to the bottom of each day, maybe in a different font. Have a good time, mom ps we love you
So I got up at around 7:45 ish, and began packing my stuff. All of the non-bus needed stuff went in the LCC bag. All else went in my backpack.
Happy New Year
So it is 12:30 in New York and there are only two of us here with KR watching TV and me typing away. What do I foresee for this new year? Will I read this a year later and think that all this prediction is for naught? It has been an interesting year, and I am sure 2014 promises to be different. Will is still here visiting, and will return to Hawaii on Saturday. How was his visit? Pretty much same as last year when he came back before his posting to Hawaii. He will not do anything unless asked, so there is no helping around the house, and he sometimes says no when asked. I got him an appt for DMV on Friday the 20th, and he failed the test. I got him another appt yesterday, Monday the 30th, and he forgot his paperwork so he was not able to take the test. I MUST stop trying to help my adult child so that he can make it on his own. Will's room has candy wrappers all over, and the clothes smell. Maybe that does not bother him, but I don't like a smelly room. His smoking of e-cig also bothers me, thinking that it is bad for his health. BUT, hey, I DID PLENTY of idiot things at his age, so I CANNOT really blame him for trying to do the "cool" things. But KR kept asking him not to smoke in the house. What did my mother say to my boyfriend then? Is that just a phase? WOW
Tyler is still floating around, but with grandpa's 5000 bucks, he is able to float more, although we are taking bet as to how fast he used that money. He is suppose to be hanging with Will, so I wonder if the big brother can impart some wisdom. Kind of hard when you have not much. We love him but just don't know what he is going to do with his life with no GED, not much prospect and thinking that his band is really going to make it. It really sounds awful, just like a bunch of growling.
Kurt, wow, getting his wisdom teeth out last Friday was very interesting. His face is like the Mac photo booth fat face feature. He has been in pain and the swelling was pretty good. I thought he would have such little swelling as Warren had his 3rds out by Trent and he had no swelling. Maybe Warren is just made up of tougher stuff? So now he is out at Connor's house, with the League folks playing League all night. He finally finished his SEAP application today, and submitted.

It has been awhile.
Hard to put down to words all the mixed emotions. The college decision came out the way I had anticipated but hot hoped. The KID is going to Cal. Now what is wrong with that? We think he would have loved a way smaller school. Comeon, 35,000 plus? 27,000 in undergraduate?
The practice sale is going and going and going. We have been working on this what feels like months. We had the best month EVER in the history of practice just short of 100,000 on UCR. So we want to renegotiate the price and collect a bit more of this money.

Well, I guess the total for 2014 is not too large, but the school is so HUGE. We keep thinking that he would get his apps together in August, then September and then October, but no. Many are written on the day it is due, and the rejections followed accordingly. We love him to pieces, yet the procrastination is going to doom him.
He is in Irvine today to get the recertification for lifeguard. That should have been done last month but he is unwilling to plan, so he planned two weeks ago, but had too many things to do so had to wait til today. Friday night he attended the Marlborough School Prom with Janet Ho, and must have stayed up all night. He 'Pleas the fifth" about drinking, and did not come home all night. He slept all day yesterday and went to church. DID NOT go to the last dance at school, as he had to finish the movies for Safe Swim.

Mom and dad are alive and well. Lovely and Abby are coming in June. Will got into USMAPS, when I thought it was West Point. BUT he will be at West Point next year. While some of his classmates will be 22, he will be one of the oldest at 26. But the LONG gray line is the best that could happen to him.
Natasha is in the hospital, again. They will have to put in a G tube. She cannot swallow anymore, and the cancer is all over. I am so sad thinking that she might not last that long, hopefully til Ian graduates. My oldest friend. Better get on the way to visit her.
My knee, oh what can I say. KR is having ear surgery in a couple of weeks. Mother's day is coming up, will my children remember and appreciate? Tyler, what can I say.
