Last Day of 2016

This is New Years Eve.  KR has gone to bed, Kurt is watching TV, and maybe smoking a little dope.  Ed is out with Nic and Kate at Lucille's eating with Angel and Tony.  So what does 2017 hold?  Shall I do a little prediction and see if anything comes through?  So I did not post a prediction last year, so here goes....

Will stays at WP, and does not apply to Juilliard as he did not get his apps in on time.  He runs out of money early and cannot come home for Spring Break.  We do not go out to parent weekend March 2017 at WP.

Tyler continues to stay in Nebraska as he has no money to go to Oregon or come back to California.  He gets another job at Walmart.

Kurt gets a B in psychology, winter session at ElCo, and takes two classes in Spring and does not do better than B's.  Gets a part time job with Linda, and continues working at Costco on the weekend.
Kurt goes back to school at Cal in August and by December is still getting just C's and we tell him he cannot go back unless he does better.

My dad is still the same, just slower, and more confusion and weaker.  Mom is the same.  She loved that Lovely and Alan were here over the summer and Isaiah finally has a great summer here.

KR loves retirement and I get tired of working.

So, maybe that is it

The Kid is Home

Well, the kid dropped out of Berkeley.  The cat, PK died two weeks ago.  My knee is feeling better.  Lovely is coming in June, and staying till July, five weeks, and Isaiah is coming June with Lovely and staying til end of July.  Abby is not coming.

How is it having Kurt home?  Weird, and good and bad.  This is just the third day.  We drove up last Sunday, the 20th of November, and drove back down on Monday.  Staying at Warren's is always nice and they had the same party they had two years ago, at Christmas, Caroline's friends.  It was so weird to pack all of Kurt's stuff and haul home.  KR and I had spoke of this in August, thinking, "He is not going to make it."  Why?  He did not change last summer and we still let him go.  At least now, he failed on his own.  Just our 15,000 dollars.  What a lesson.  Well, no more of this.  He needs to get a job, and go to El Camino and make up his mind if he wants to continue next year.  He does not need to go back to Berkeley.  As long as he is happy and productive, is all we ask for.

More later..........

PK is gone

Today PK is no more.

She came to us from Dr Chris Omoto years ago.  I got her in 2006, I think.  Someone dumped her at Dr Omoto's door step and PK was placed in the office counter with a note for someone to adopt her.  My PK II had just passed away and I decided to take her home.  PK was previously named Harriett.  She did not want to go out and was always an indoor cat.  The last few months, she has been pooping in the house and vomiting.  Over a month ago, I took her to Pacific Vet and the blood work showed nothing is wrong, so the limited diag was irritable bowel, with possibly lymphoma.  She was on prednisolone and metronidrozole for a while and it helped but three days ago, she stopped eating and would not drink.  Today she meowed most day and was looking so uncomfortable I called the mobil vet who came here and now she is buried in the chicken run about three feet down.  I miss that cat who used to meow loudly every night, as she carried someone's sock around in her mouth.  She also chased little shiny things and will bring it back.

Now there is only Mooch and Mini-Moo, plus the feral Blackie.  No more additional cats.  Don't know what we would do when it is Gracie's turn.  She is the bestest dog.  Also Mini-Moo is the greatest cat too, and I hope they hang for long time.  Mooch is limping, and has been for over a week, don't know how he got hurt, prolly fighting with Blackie.

KR had Kids Club today.  I miss my cat

My knee really hurts, think I will have to have a cyst surgery, sigh.

West Point Parent Weekend, October 2016

So finally we are off to West Point parent weekend.  It is frantic getting things ready for the trip, and I pack early, as last time forgot a whole bunch of stuff, but I ended up forgetting the vitamins.  We fly out of LAX into EWR, Newark, as it was the cheapest.  We drove to SBCHC had a Thank your volunteer day, so KR and I stopped on the way to airport.  We decided it was easier for Lovely to drive home from there and we would take Uber.  The food was mainly finger food so KR had to stop at Wendy's before the Uber driver picked us up.  I tell him it is credit card only, and he does not listen and asks how we are suppose to pay after we get out.  That man.

The flight is at 8 54 and we settle and I put eye shade on and go to sleep, as I knew it would be so early when we arrive.  RED eye flight is terrible.  I also used ear plugs, which helped alot.  We land at 5 am and nap in the Hertz terminal for about an hour, as I did not want to drive in the dark.  So when it got a little lighter, we went on our way.  WAZE is an amazing app, and we stopped at a deli for a sandwich when KR got hungry.  The line for parent ID was soooooooo long, at the visitor center.  the guy told us to go to Cullum Hall, so we did but the line there was even longer so we came back down.  Got our passes, and went up the two gates.  It was raining, lightly.  We got these ponchos and my broken umbrella.  We toured the soup's resident, and waited for Will to be out of school.

We go see the Chinese teacher who turned out to be a white guy, as Will wanted to major in Chinese.  We are hoping he signs up for the March trip to Asia.

He finally came out at about 5 and it was really nice to see him.  We had some free food, there was this BBQ as he lagged and did not get us the Friday night meal ticket we wanted, nor the Sunday brunch. We then toured the mess cooking area under the mess hall, as it was one of the tours we can see. It was so interesting how they bake and cook so much food everyday for over 4000 kids.  We were impressed.

We checked into the Fairbridge Inn, room 103.  Terrible bed, ugly bathroom, lousy carpet.  Never again.  Lights out, we are suppose to meet him at 7 30 for the simulation room visit.

Next morning, quick breakfast and text Will.  No response so we go up to Washington Hall, to the simulation room by ourselves and shot a bunch, great fun.  He never responded, said he never heard his alarm.  It was still raining, so the parade and the parachuters were canceled, but the football game was still going on.  He had to go, as everyone has to go to the game if you are a plebe.  We didn't want to go to the game, so we drove around, took the bus to the PX and bought some souvenirs, and checked out the white sheets.  Will has not washed his sheets in over two months.  He had the sheet tied down under his mattress so that he does not have to make his bed for inspection and they were BROWN.  Yikes, and YUCK YUCK.  Well, he is his own man, but we did spurge and bought him two sets of extra long, only 10 bucks each.  Pretty cheap.

He finally responded to our text about dinner saying something that he is still in trouble and cannot come out.  We go get food at Bear Mountain pizza, and bring back to Grant Hall and Will comes and eats with us.  He goes home and we go to sleep.

Sunday morning we go tour the Seven Lake area, as he is not up.  Then we go eat brunch.  IT WAS FREEEEEEE  Somehow no one was checking if anyone paid, and we were able to eat in the mess hall.  The food was eggs, sausage, potatoes, quiche, and we were late enough we missed the fish. Will told us about all the things he had to do as a plebe, like yell Fire in the Hole if he had to open a new peanut butter jar, and he had to walk the walls in the dorm, and so many little things that the plebes have to do.  But he seems to be enjoying it.  We hope he has a best friend, and will handle the stress of WP.

After brunch we take him shopping, and we were on our way.  We drove into Long Island, and onto Fire Island, and saw the pools on the island and the light house.  By then we were pretty tired, so we stopped at the Best Western Bar Harbour, nice room.  Next morning, quick breakfast, into NYC.  We were up north of Central Park, in Harlem.  CANNOT find a place to park.  Finally we found one and started our Citibike excursion.  It was a little chili, and we toured Central Park.  What a beautiful day. We then drove down to 63rd, and Riverside Park, and took out bikes and stopped at High Line park.  Had a piece of pizza at Artichoke Pizza and drove into New Jersey, where we stayed at Great Western Robert Treat.  The front desk lady was really rude.  The room was on 14th floor.  NICE view.

Early morning we had breakfast and dropped of rental car.  The flight was delayed and we finally left at 11 30 (not 11), and when we came in, we took the No 8 bus into town, and I asked Rocky to pick us up.  It was good to be home.  Lovely had left for Rancho Bernardo about 12 30.

Parent Weekend 2016 Berkeley

So we decided last minute, sort of, to go to Kurt's parent weekend.  KR had jury duty calls the whole week, and he called every night at 5 and was told not to report in.  Thursday he calls me saying that Angela was in labor and Greg wanted to know if KR can work for him on Friday.  I reminded him that there is jury duty and we won't know til the office is closed to see if he has to report.  Susan Rhlinger told KR that not to call too early, like maybe 9 PM is good as if there are others that call early, he will not have to report.  Greg decided to cancel all patients for Friday, and KR didn't have to report.

We packed up and got everything ready and left about 10 30, half an hour after we had hoped.  We did not stop at Harris' Ranch.  It was too expensive, and besides, it was still hot in Central Valley and we didn't want to leave Gracie.  We got to Pleasanton and Warren texted us to come to his office to get the keys.  We turned around, and then he text to say that he is getting off early, so we turned around again.  Got to his house about 6, and Caroline came home about 6 30.  We went out to a Bermese restaurant and it was very good and very interesting.  BUT it was so late.

Next morning, we had coffee and drove up to pick up Kurt.  We were suppose to be there at 8 but didnt make it til 8 30.  Kurt looked good, and we proceeded to drive to Crissy Field in San Francisco.

There were many dogs, and Gracie had a great time.

Then it was onward to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Next was the drive out to Golden Gate Park, where the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass concert was going on.Went to the hotel, which was Motel 6 and on Geary, where drug alley can be found.  We went out to eat at Marine Club while Kurt slept.

Next morning was Dim Sum in Chinatown, then to Castro Street for the 46th annual street fair.  Needless to say, there were a lot of gay men.  It also rained about five minutes at LaFayette Park in the city.  How interesting and refreshing.
We dropped Kurt off to work, 4 pm, and went to meet Rich Cook and his girlfriend, Nancy.  Then it was back to Warren's for bed and we left to go home the next morning.

Empty Nest part 2

So the kid left.  We finally got it all packed last Saturday, the 20th and started driving to Berkeley. We had lunch at Harris Ranch and got to Berkeley.  Unloading all of his stuff while KR took Gracie for a walk.  There were the homeless being fed at People's Park.  Martinez complex being right in front of people park.  THEN he went, "I really don't want to go with you guys."

I KNEW IT.

I KNEW IT.

So I said ok, tell that to pops.  KR proceeded to tell him that we are not his taxi service and he had said he would go, and if he did not go, WITH A GOOD ATTITUDE he can find himself trucking his stuff home, as we were DONE driving him around.  So, we waited and Kurt text that he was sorry being a poop and will go.  We started driving to Point Reyes.

Coming over the Richmond Bridge, and trying to find a place to stay.  The Marin headland was full of poison oak, and we finally got a reservation at Tomales Bay Resort, which is on the West side of Tomales Bay.  We were going to have dinner at Salt Water but while waiting for them to open at 5, we decided to just get sandwiches at the Inverness Deli and Market across the street with a half dozen oysters.  The Bay was beautiful.  The resort was kind of quaint, a bunch of rooms and a small swimming pool, and at 200 a night, but it was on the water and Gracie swam a bit in the bay.  We ate the sandwiches and watched a bit of the closing ceremony.

The next day was also cloudy but we drove into Point Reyes Station and had lunch at the Station House Cafe, then it was on to the light house.  This being summer, the light house and surrounding was all in fog.  We walked down the 300+ steps and took a look, then it was back to civilization.  We stopped at Richmond Costco to buy groceries and it was back to the dorm.

No one was there, and we drove him to Alex' apartment, on Blake Street, 2212 , I think not too close to school.  We started driving home.  Had to stop at Buttonwillow to sleep in the back of the van before coming home about 3 AM.

Kind of weird being home with no one here.  Alan went down to Rancho Bernardo Tuesday afternoon after watching mom all morning, as there was no caregiver that day.

August 16, Tuesday already?

Last post was July 20, really?  Nic came and gone.  He showed up on August 4, Thursday and left Tuesday, the 9th.  Kurt was suppose to go with him to the VRLA expo, at the convention center but could not get his homework done on time to go so the 30 dollars wasted.

Today is August 16 and we are suppose to be leaving this weekend for school, Cal that is.  We agonized as to whether to send Kurt back.  If we can put money on it, we believe he will not be able to make our requirement of no lower than B-.  Both KR and I think that he will have some C's (watch my word, he ends up with D's and is kicked out).  Alan and Abby were here, and Sunday, Abby was suppose to leave but Alan did not look at the new itinerary and thought her flight was at 5 55 PM when it was at 12 55 PM, because of the typhoon, everything was changed, but no one told me and I only had the old flight schedule.  So Abby left the next morning and had to transit through SFO, by herself, from the domestic to the international.  On top of that, the flight out of SFO for Taiwan was delayed, from 2 15 to 4 55 PM.  So Abby had plenty of time at SFO to wait.

Yesterday was the first day that there was condensation on the cars.  The weather is changing.  It is getting colder.  But this year is nothing like last year where all of June and July and most of August was boiling.  The weather has been very nice, and easy, hardly needing the fan at all.  Guess I should not complain, it is only 43 in Canberra.

So I did a lot of shopping for Ed's family, buying hundreds of dollars of food and stuff and Nic had to carry back two 50 pound boxes of chocolate, cereal, clothes, nicknack.  He only brought carry on for himself.  He did buy something for his girlfriend Kate, but I don't know what it is.  I think it was a purse.  I got stuff from Whole Food, Sprouts and Trader Joe.  All the stuff Sandy liked.

Kurt is suppose to clean his room enough to be able to leave.  I don't think he is getting an A in his El Camino English class.  Thursday is the last day.  We are packing right now, the whole car should be packed and we will take the dog with us while Alan look out after mom and dad and the hens and the cats.

My knee is not feeling as well as I thought it should.  It was hurting a bit more the last week, and I have only ran once a week for the last three weeks and only about 1 mile each time.  The pain was pretty good.  Dad has been leaking and mom seems more confused.  What am I to do?  Lovely won't be here til October.  I just bought our ticket to see Will, leaving Thursday night the 21 of Oct and returning Tuesday the 25.  We are staying at the Fairbridge Inn again, and I have yet to book the room for NYC.

Will finished "Boot" or beast.

My Knee Surgery

KR couldn't sleep so he gets up at 4 45 and the alarm goes off at 5, MEXICAN channel, really, and I get up.  Get everything ready, at Coast Surgery Center by 5 30, he goes surfing.  Went in and got everything ready.  The anesthesiologist is some young Chinese woman who speaks Chinese, and they kept asking me what i was having done, finally I told them a frontal lobotomy.  HAHAHA  Next thing I knew, it was 7 30 and I woke up.  Everything went well.

Kurt is called and he comes and get me.  I get up to bed and my hip is REALLY REALLY sore, the nurse said prolly because they had to position my leg on the side to do the surgery, it is the medial meniscus after all, so kind of like holding a yoga pose for 15 minutes.  Man that hurt more than the knee.  I am also queasy.

I lay around with ice most day, and the compression stocking helps.  We had Bible Study and they show up and I hobble around.  Everything feels pretty good.  I think I am just numb.  Mary comes by with ginger candy, I am queasy.  Diane comes with Hungarian sausage, spicy cabbage, and bread. We needed all the food, and quickly ate through everything.  What a bunch of nice friends.  I think they are sisters from another mother.

They gave me one Norco, and the constipation, oh man.  Didn't go for like three days.  Prunes helped a little, but much too late.  No more Norco's from now.

Let me name them:
Adele
Mary
Diane
Melissa
Faye

Just five, but they are the bestest friends.

The Kid is Sick

Well, Kurt had a migraine today, and it was interesting that he was out of commission.  He told me about 9 am and I went over to the garage where his stuff was and found the Imitrex and gave him one.  He went to school and came home and went to bed.  I googled a couple of acupressure points and tried to make him feel better.  He also called in sick at work, and will be taking the sick hours that he has accrued from last year.

I had another PT last Friday with Alice.  Think I won't go any more, as there is little that I cannot do by myself, besides it is costing me money and this month we charged enough.  Just got the Amex and the Visa bills.

Monday we went down to Capistrano and spent most of the day with Ed and Ingrid.  They were here staying with the Tidiks, and Dr Tidik is pretty old, and needs a lot of help from the caregiver.  It was nice to see all of them, from Ed and Ingrid to Glenn, Jan, Debbie, Mary, Beth, and assorted Tidiks. They rented two houses and Michael had bought a house last year, I think.  I think it has to be thousands of dollars a week.

Alan left to go down to San Diego last Friday.  KR worked for Greg on Friday the 15th, and I had my teeth cleaned by Debbie.  She is kind of weird, and rather slow I think.  I wish Karyn was still there. I think she is better at cleaning than Debbie.  But that is rather late.

KR just called and got his sick day pay from Greg.  It is about time.  Also Greg asked him to work the 29th, he is going to Lost Wages for bachelor party.  KR met with Trish Farley and the meeting drove him nuts, as she cannot decide what she wants to do with her storage units, so they stood around doing nothing.

We worked MMA last Saturday, the 16th.  We ahd a new caregiver Seantiel and I had to stay and tell her what to do.  She said that Ofelia told her all kinds of lies about dad and how I try to get Ofelia to do things for mom, and it was taking time away from dad.  What a crock.  I texted Stacy to have a chat and it will happen next week.

On Sunday we went to Adele's BBQ.  She is so amazing.  We ate, and even Kurt came.  I went to my exercise class.  The knee is feeling better and the frost bite is slowly peeling, like KR said it would. It is no pressure burn like Dr Thomas wants to say.  Overall the knee is healing pretty fast.

The hen I got last week from Diane turned out to be a rooster.  I should have known, as it was pretty aggressive the whole week.  I went up today and got another, this time the hen is pretty mellow.  She already laid an egg.  What am I going to call her?  Amber might be good, or Matilda?  As the last Matilda turned out to be Mateo.  Vulchi is still laying about 3 a week.  What a girl.  Amelia is broody again, so not laying.  Little Blackie the trooper is laying about 5 a week.  The little coop from TJ is really a nice coop.

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

Yesterday was Kurt's 19th birthday.  Where did the time go?  It was only yesterday that I was calling him Meeno.  We went to Denny's for breakfast.  I picked up Lani and mom and dad and KR met us there, and Abby and Alan and Kurt came separately.  Free Grand Slam of course and mom had a vegetarian omelette, and of course she asked what everyone else was eating, and then said, "I don't have ham, then I don't have sausage, and then I don't have pancake..." which meant that she wanted some of each.

Kurt had his first day of school at El Camino and he left by 10 to park and find the classroom.  He got in.  There were 30 registered and 9 on the waitlist with him being the last one on the list.  Grand total of 29 people showed up for the class.  Yipeeeeeee.  The teacher is young and kind of cute, but the first book is of a dead lesbian called Adrienne Rich.  Her poems were kind of interesting.

For lunch, we all dressed up and went to ChickFilA.  Oh, before that I had PT and I had forgotten and Patty called and I rushed there.  Alice really worked me good.  We all got a sandwich, and two drinks, then KR says, "How about we go to the other one and get another sandwich?"  Bless his heart.  So we all drove to the next one and got another sandwich.  Of course we got the udders with gloves.

Ofelia came over and I went to Gaetano's early to wait in line, and the rest of the gang came.  I also invited Bobby and Ryan as a surprise.  We had the Tuesday night dinner for four, times two, and it was great.  They went out Pokemon hunting and Kurt didn't get home til 1, and was pretty tired the next day.

We didn't tell mom that we were going out to dinner.

My First PT

Maybe it is because I was feeling better, the PT sort of feels like it was nothing.  I got there at 2 and saw Eric O.  Alice Wang, the one Neil recommended was busy.  There are about a dozen people getting PT, and some are in pretty bad shape.  He asked me to walk, and then corrected my gait, and stretched me a bit and showed me a bunch of exercises and that was it.  It seems so short, and I will have one more session before NO MORE, as my insurance has 30% copay I think.

The cleaning lady came, and she read her clock wrong so I waited for her.  Kurt was pretty tired but he was up on time.  I cleaned the garage some more, and went through a bunch of paperwork that mom had.  She was trying to be the go between for someone trying to buy a million dollars of GOLD, some time in the late 90"s?  I also saw her bankruptcy papers, and so many more.  She was into wheeling and dealing.  I suppose my kids will say that about us when the time comes, except we won't have so much paper trail as everything is now on the web or over internet.  Wonder if I should save some of this stuff.

After PT, since I got the go ahead for bike riding, I rode my bike to Fox to pay a bill and to Chase to deposit some money.  I was pretty tired when I got home.  Kurt went to bed about 5 30 and slept til 7 30 the next morning.  Yikes.  I walked the dog about 9 pm as she had no exercise all day.  We all sure miss pops.  I cooked some hamburgers and went to mom's for about an hour.  Ofelia did not clean dad's teeth well, as he still had a whole bunch of food between 18 & 19.  Adele came over and we had a nice chat while Harry was over at the Y for swim lesson.

Surgery Friday July 1, 2016

So KR takes me there by 5 30 and i sign a bunch of papers, and they get me back there by 6 30 and kept asking me what my name was and the birthday and what procedure I was having done, I finally said that I was there for a frontal lobotomy.  The next thing I knew, it was 7 30 and they are calling Kurt, as I told KR to just surf and not worry.

I had this compression stocking on, and my right hip was killing me, and they asked if I wanted a Norco and I said yes, should have said no.  I get home, with this bandage and limp up to bed.  The whole thing is a blur as I am a bit queasy.  The leg is numb, and I stay queasy the whole day.  Thank goodness the lemon bars were baked yesterday.

Kurt comes home from work and stays when the bible study folks start coming in.  KR had precamp dinner at church and gets home by 7 45.  The discussion was very lively, about WHY I am, or am not a Calvinist.  Guess me and Patty are the only for sure Calvinists.  They all leave and I go to bed.  Not much appetite as I am queasy.  Diane drops off some bread, sausage from Alpine and this great cabbage salad.  Thank goodness, we all liked the food and there was not enough to eat.

Saturday dawns and my leg is still a bit numb.  I am still queasy, and Ofelia is suppose to come but Liz told her not to and I had no caregiver for the morning.  I walk dad, and that was not a good idea. Adeli was suppose to come at 2 30 but she misread the text and comes at 3.  KR and I were thinking about going to the movie but i am just not up to it.  Kurt and Ryan and Jun Soo went to the Dodgers game, and we went to bed early, still queasy.

Sunday dawns and KR is up and we go to church as KR is leaving for camp.  We go to the 9 service, and KURT IS LATE AGAIN !!!!!!!!  They commission the whole group, and we go home after service.  KR and group will stay til the 11 oclock commissioning before they head out to Vista.  He calls me from camp.  KURT has a fit about helping me, and that he did NOT WANT the responsibility of being the man of the house.  What is wrong with him?  Can't step up and be a man? I go to moms in the afternoon as Ofelia was there from 9 30 - 12 30.  I go at 2 30 and then 5 and feed them and finally asked Kurt to put them to bed as I was too tired.  The dog is out of sort, dad is not here.  Kurt takes Gracie down to the Bay with Ryan and at least they got some exercise.  He catches this little fish.

This morning is FOURTH of July, and the weather is overcast.  I am feeling better.  Kurt goes at 9 and then we go take the old folks to New Horizon hot dog roast and mom and dad eats and we take them home.  Kristina comes at 1, gives dad a shower and I go back and feed them halibut and rice for dinner.  Kurt has me buy him some Hard Lemonade for the party at the Richardson's in Manhattan Beach.  I hope he does not drink and drive.

Tomorrow I think I start PT.  I went to the pool and tried to swim, the waterproof bag over the incision leaked so I came out after about 15 minutes.  It is feeling much better.

Friday, June 23, 2016

The topic promises that it will only be an average day.  Is it?  At 9 30 in the morning and I am blessed to be up and at it since 6 30.  Kurt was suppose to go surfing with KR but to his usual self, he begged off and had to go to work.  Was suppose to be at work at 8 45 but didn't get up til 9 so he is late again. Will I be able to let go and see where his antics take him?  God is my good Father and HE WILL provide, and I just sometimes needs to get out of the way to see his works.  The sermon last night at church was so interesting.  Wish we had gone to all 10, but we only made it to the last three.  Kept forgetting to go on Thursday nights til Brad and Judi kept telling us it was so interesting.

Lani is at work this morning and I went by to see if everything is ok.  Dad is peeing more, so I have to tell Kristina to give him nothing to drink with dinner.  Yes, Kristina is back at work.  She got caught taking 40 dollars from one of her clients and is fired from Home Helpers.  I am trying to do the Christian thing and get her back on her feet by giving her more hours.  Am I doing the wrong thing?  Am I opening up to more troubles?  There is nothing to steal but will she be good for mom and dad?

Kurt had his orientation at Wick yesterday from 2-4 and another one tomorrow from 9 - 3.  We are hoping to go to Huntington Gardens as it is free YMCA member day.  I have my appt with the ortho and my knee has gotta get better.  I can't stand pain all the time, and not able to run.

As I get older, I am filled with more introspection.  Will I die gracefully?  Will I be with KR for a long time?  Meaning, will he last as long as I do?  He is such a good father, good husband and the bestest son in law.  My mom just loves him and he is so good to them.  I cannot imagine not having a companion in our later years.  I looked at the ticket to West Point and business class is about 1000 bucks.  Should we buy that or the cheapie?  Last time, my back went out, and the business was so good.  Should we go to Australia in January?  So many questions and uncertainties.  GOD WILL PROVIDE !!!!!!

No Can Do

Seems like I try to put something down everyday and it is just not possible.  Last time was when Lovely was here for a week, and now it is two and a half weeks after the last entry.  She left on the 13th.  Sigh.  We celebrated dad's 98th birthday with breakfast at Denny's, of course.  Lunch was El Torito with Auntie Mary and Ricky.  And dinner at our house.  I forgot the phone so no pic at Denny's.  Dang.  June 10th, Will finally got his license.  Second time in San Pedro, and I had to drive him.  KR and the boys also went camping June 5, Sunday morning to Tuesday afternoon.  I managed to get a spot at Jalama.  Right in the front and they had a great time.  Surfing, and walking in the tidepool.

Had lunch with Brandon on Monday the 6th to figure out what we gonna do with our retirement and the long term care, etc.  Kurt had pool party, second gradeon the 9th and Lovely drove down to San Diego on Thursday.  Kurt did the overnight on the 9th, and Will did Friday the 10th.  Neither one of them are good at working.  Kurt is always late, and Will always forget something.  Lovely finally came home Sunday, and we were on our way out to eat, and dragged her along.

Kurt went and saw Robert Babb Friday the 10th.  Have no idea what went on there, but we are trying to figure out what he is to do with next semester.

We had Dinner for 8 but just dinner for two.  Brad and Judi Dennis came and we had a great time.  Only Will ate with us, Will is usually not available.

Oh, big news.  my knee has been bothering me for awhile, and on Tuesday, the 7th, I did a little hop and felt the pop around my right knee.  The pain.  I had made an appointment for the 8th, and had X rays, and MRI appointment for Saturday the 11th.

On Saturday, I drive to Manhattan Beach.  It was actually so wet that it was lightly raining.

Monday, the 13th, I take Mom to the airport to see Lovely off.  It was a sad day.

Wednesday the 15th I have lunch with Faye, she is such a love.  Dinner was at the Buffalo Fire Station where Trent and Barry had a staff appreciation day.  Nice to see Penny and Karen and Andrea, thank goodness Greg left soon.  I am so sorry that we sold the practice to him.  Karyn got fired about two months ago.

Friday we had Father's Day Luncheon at the YMCA, and it was a great BBQ.  Ribs, sausage, and chicken, with all the fixing.  YUM !!

Saturday was MMA at Calvary Assembly of God.  It was a hot day and my knee was sore.  But we saw a bunch of patients, but the Sonicare handpiece did not work too well.  I returned it.

Sunday Will packed and mom and I drove him to the airport.  Was going to park at the USO but as United is so far from USO we just dropped him off.

Monday had eye doctor appt with Tim Olinger.  What a nice guy.  No problem with my eyes.

One Week Later

How can the week go by so quick?  Lovely arrived last Monday and it is one week down and one week to go.  Makes me want to weep.  She has been having the boys do two shifts, like 2 hours in the morning, and two hours in the afternoon.  Kurt has been surfing with dad, and going to the Bay for spear fishing.  He even caught a bunch of grunion and cooked them and ate them.  KR loves doing this kind of stuff with him.

Yesterday, just yesterday, the boys, Will and Kurt went on a camping trip with dad to Jalama.  I could not find two consecutive nights at any of the camp grounds that you didn't have to move spots, I tried South Carlsbad, Leo Carrillo, and finally Jalama.  I bought all kinds of stuff, bacon, hot dogs, buns, milk, hot dog roasting stick, graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate and salad.....  I didn't want them to eat more than one meal at the GRILL, as I am sure it would be expensive and especially Will does not seem to temper his spending.

Andrew is here.

Will said that his mom and dad kicked him out so he is temporarily at our house.  Really weird that the boys and dad are not here and he is, but he seems to be a good kid and goes to work early and is respectful.  I am sure all parents have issues with their kids.

We gave Kurt the ultimatum, after learning his grades.  FOUR D's and an A- and a C+.  So if he does not get all A's and B's, he will withdraw from school.  He is to take out the 6500 dollar Stafford Loan, or federal direct unsubsidized loan from school, and apply all to tuition, and all the money he makes this summer goes to tuition, and no more frat, and no doing drugs, and we will let him stay.  One C and he is done from Berkeley.  What do you do with a kid that is so talented but not willing to do his job, which is to be a student.

Angel came to visit Lovely yesterday.  We went to Classic Burger for dinner.  Lovely had onion rings and Angel didn't eat and mom and dad shared shrimp burrito and burger.  I took Gracie up to the fire road.

Tiffany came to visit today.  We went to Seafood Town and everyone ate too much.  Then we went to the bakery on Lomita, but it was closed, then we went to JJ's and she got some Starbuck's too.  Dad was pretty tired from walking around.  It is so weird to have the whole house empty.  Andrew went to work at 4 PM and came back at 7 PM, said he had two jobs.

Tomorrow is dad's 98th birthday.  Wow, don't know if I want to live that old.

Lovely is here

So this is Memorial Day 2016 and Lovely is here.  KR checks the surf, no surf, I tried to go to yoga, substitute teacher I don't really like so just do yoga by myself.  Had a chat with the boys as they seem to think working for good ol' mom is a piece of cake and they can just "babysit" grandma and grandpa.  Told Lani not to give them eggs, but she cooked anyway.  Just don't know what to do.  BUT she loves mom and dad and is really good to them.  I gave her a bonus, wish I remember how much.

At 11 we go to New Horizon.  Will does not come, and Kurt does not show up, so mom and dad and KR and I go, eat dogs and mom eats a LOT.  I could barely eat one.  They go home and sleep, Kurt shows up for work at 2, and I go to the airport.  Only drove around once, as Lovely came out pretty quick, and i was able to sit around a bit waiting for her.  Traffic pretty easy as most people were not working.

Mom was really surprised to have her other daughter here.  Lovely brought TWO 50 pound box of stuff, coffee, and snacks.  Kurt cleaned his room a bit.  Last night I let him go to Randy Donuts with Bobby and Ryan.  His room is still a bit messy.

It is so nice to have Lovely here.  Don't have to worry about anything.  Might go to the farmer's market tomorrow.

Sunday before Memorial Day 2016

I meant to write everyday but somehow things just get away from me.  Adeli worked this weekend. She finally got the 230 dollar check figured out and she demanded the money from the Money Gram people.  She wanted to give me the 60 dollars, i told her to keep it as a bonus.  She is so good to mom and dad and I appreciate that.  She came at 8 30 Friday and then 3 pm on Saturday.  Will worked Friday 9 45 - 12 45, said he thought he was not working Friday as he was working this weekend.  I told him that we never changed the week day work schedule and he needs to look at the calendar, but he seems to have lots of excuse.  Kurt worked Friday afternoon.  Will worked 9 - 1 on Saturday and 9 - 12 on Sunday.  We need to have a chat about what is expected of them working, otherwise I would just get the other caregivers back.

This morning KR and I walked the dog and then stopped at Ralphs to buy some ribs.  They had it on sale for 1.49 a pound.  Then we worked on the sprinkler system and I went for a ride around. Nothing in the allies, and Kurt cooked his fish.  Oh, I forgot, Kurt and KR went down to the Bay and caught a bunch of fish, a halibut and then some perch and grunions.  Kurt was so jazzed about cooking and eating the fish.  KR loves to go down there with him and the dog.

Will went out to eat with Andrew, and we are heading off to Maui Chicken for dinner.  Then it is LOVELY COMING TOMORROW !!!!!!!!!!!!!  YIPPPPPPEEEEEEEE

Friday, May 20

Kurt is up late, and makes it to Po Po's after I make breakfast.  Lani said dad has diarrhea so she gave him some diarrhea pills.  Ends up he has slight constipation, so that made it a bit worse.  He ended up leaking most of today.  Kurt showers him and takes him to exercise room.  Oh, I forgot, my car died again yesterday so we had to jump it with Kurt's car.  Wonder why the battery is wonky.  I make some burgers for Kurt and Dad.  When I got home, Will made a 1/2 pounder with the remaining burger. After eating, KR and I went for a bike ride.  Rode from Ave C all the way to the bridge in Culver City.  Kurt went to see Ryan at UCLA, and Will went to work.

Will, what can I say.  Could not remember most of the instruction I told him, so I had to tell him over and over.  Dad is still leaking.  Wish I had the other caregivers back.  The boys are not too good at this, and what did I expect?  I help Will put dad to bed.  I made port baby back ribs St Louis style, and took some over to mom.  Kurt is still out and he said he would be home at 10, and it is now 9 30.

We are going to the Arms Forces exhibition at the Del Amo Mall tomorrow.

The Impossible Implant

I placed the implant crown on Gerald Duncan two weeks ago, and last weekend, he said it fell out. We were in Berkeley and I was so frantic.  I didn't take an x ray as Lori and staff were going out to eat and I still don't remember how to do that there.  It is so frustrating to try to do dentistry when I don't have the help and staff.  So it felt a bit 'not tight enough' when I screwed down, and now it came loose.  I bought a screw from G & H, and retightened it down with KR's help on Monday when we came home.  He called two days later it is loose again.  I WAS JUST BESIDE MYSELF.

So I called the rep, Anthony from Astra and he comes on Thursday, and we finally took some x ray, and it looks like the contour on the ML and MB is too heavy, so I reduced and finally it seated so tight that I could barely remove it WITHOUT even hand screwing it down.  Yay, finally.  So after about TWO hours, I finally closed the access and went home.  I WAS so hungry.  Ate a little and went to work MMA at Journey of Faith.

That always make me so grateful.  GOD IS SO GOOD.  There was only me, and my hands were cramping up.  Gloria and Lori were helping and there were plenty of patients.  I did lots of cleaning, tried to explain a whole bunch of diagnosis, and cemented #23 with Duralon, which promptly fell out. The tooth was just a teepee, and nothing holding it in and I have no idea how old the cement was. There were calculus coming out of my ears.  We were done at 8 and I came home.  Kurt went to run some errands, don't know what, and came home to bed.

Post colonoscopy

So I don't follow the doctor instruction to take Miralax, instead I ordered Senna and Ducolax from Humana pharmacy via dad's Humana account. Why pay when you can have it "free".  But I don't know the exact dose, so I took FOUR Ducolax at about 8, and the 10 of the 8.4 mg Senna an hour after, and then another 10 in an hour and another 10.  Then I thought that might not be enough, so around 2 am, I woke up and took another two Ducolax.  Apparently it worked just fine.  I was having some really watery diarrhea, but not completely cleared.  The next morning, I walked to LCMH, the back side as Maria, I think told me to go.  My allergy was so bad, the ladies were looking at me funny thinking I was sick.  They were rather rude.

I had to walk to the front, and I was feeling all bloated, from drinking about 2 64 oz apple juice, and some chicken juice.  NO SOLID food.  Someone said I could have eaten the morning of the surgery, as no one really aspirate anymore from light sedation.

So I go into the changing room, and wear this gown.  Then two nursing students came and asked if they can watch.  WHAT, WATCH THE DOCTOR INSERT THE SCOPE UP MY BUTT????????

Well, why not.

So after I come to, I don't remember much.  Kurt came and I rode home in a haze.  As soon as I got home, I threw up in the driveway, some pink liquid, wonder what it was.  I went up to bed and went to sleep, feeling rather light headed and dizzy.  Kurt has been working at Po Po's, 8 35 - 12 35, and then 2 30 to 8.  He watches too much TV there.  I think I am hungry, and made the roast, but I couldn't really eat, tummy feel rather weird.

Will goes out with Andrew and comes home about 10.  We talked about house rules, and the schedule.  Kurt goes out with some Tinder chick and gets a ticket at PV, 50 bucks.  That kid.  He does not come home til 2, said he was with Ben Chappel and he wants to go camping with him.

Colonoscopy

So tomorrow is my colonoscopy.  My second.  The first was around January 2006 so it is 11 years later.  The prep oh my.  The PREP !!!  I didn't follow the doctor instruction, and ordered Senna and Ducolux.  I started with 4 Ducolax at 7 30 and then 10 of the 8.6 Senna at 8 30 and 10 more at 9 30 and I think 10 more at 10 30 and I should be done with no more stuff in my colon.  I have been waiting for this for months, and with the new life insurance and all, had to put it off for way too long.

Dr Mark Takemura is doing this at LCM out patient tomorrow at 9 am.  I am to report at 7 30.  The hospital called me on Monday to give me instruction regarding my Tuesday surgery.  Tuesday I say, it is not Tuesday.  Put a long story short, it is suppose to be Wednesday, 8 30 but it is now 9 am, and Kurt should be picking me up after.

Speaking of Kurt.  We drove up to Berkeley last Friday, arriving at school about 5 30.  Went to his room and he was trying to study and make a mini cheat sheet, the teacher allowed it, and Allen was online gaming.  The last final, and he is gaming.  Well, at least Kurt was not smoking dope.  We packed half his closet and he left to go to the last final time slot of the semester, it was EECS or something.  We had stopped at Harris Ranch for a very expensive but oh so delicious lunch, and we drove to Warren's.  They were taking a nap and their new cat, hid under the bed.  We went to bed, with Gracie and they went out for a drink or something with friends.  Ships passing during the night.

Saturday morning we finally got up and got up to school about 8 30 and packed.  The graduates were walking to the stadium, and there were so many people and cars.  Kurt was asleep and we roused him, finally and got everything packed in the car.  We tried to go to Cafe 1 and Peet's were closed for the season.  I was so mad that he did not buy more coffee and he had about 200 points still.  We walked to Cafe 3 and had a wonderful breakfast, with me getting some food and fruit to go.  We got a bunch of cookies and shampoo as that was all was left for sale, DANG !!!!!!!  THAT !!!!!!! KID !!!!

We get home and I go to pay Adeli.  She is such a gem, always willing to work different hours.  Kurt has so much stuff I start first of five laundry.  KR was in a funk, later said he was bored and grumpy. Well, I was the one doing all the laundry, what does he have to be grumpy about?

Sunday Kurt did a bit of work at grandma's and Bobby and Ryan came over and they all went out to Maui Chicken, while we had dinner with grandma, they had enchiladas and I had salad.  Monday KR and Kurt went surfing and it was really good.  I was at grandma's and Kurt took over the shift.  He had a huge argument about the hours he is to work.  We talked about it but he does not remember.  It was suppose to be 8 30 - 12 30, then break for two hours and then 2 30 - 8 for 95 dollars a day.  Then Will FB me and said that he is coming back on late Wednesday night, if that is ok.  Dang, no one keeps to schedule.

Lani comes on Monday night.  Tuesday morning Kurt can't get up so KR goes surfing.  Kurt was late, after I woke him up at 8 25 for his 8 30 work.  Then KR comes home and we all go to the Farmer's Market.  We walked Gracie and Kurt walked mom and dad.  They had lunch and I walked Gracie home as I was not suppose to eat anything solid.

The afternoon Kurt and dad went to the tide pools and they had a great time.  They don't get back til 5 pm and I watched mom and dad and made dad walk around to the exercise room.  Kurt is spending the night as I get more Senna pills down and more explosive diarrhea.  Strange that I didn't eat all day, and I had diarrhea all day, and KR thinks he did not have that when he was going thru this.  So tomorrow is the day.

Strange I just sent the premium in for life insurance, little over 200,000 bucks if I croak.  Brandon said that it would not be in force if I kick the bucket tomorrow as the insurance company didn't have the money yet.  They just sent it TODAY !!!  HAHAHHA

Thursday, May 12, 2016

Well, I have been thinking that Natasha died a year ago on the 12th and only yesterday I realize that it was on the 10th, last year, Mother's Day.

Went to yoga at 9 30 and feel so stiff and unlimber.  Went to Botox with Trent and then dropped the enchiladas off at Peter's after.  Allie is very cute but kind of too shy.  I will bring Gracie back later. She actually never wagged her tail at me and at some point scooted back a little.  Packed for our trip. Ran about 2 miles, that is all I can do.  Cooked turkey, was hoping to get fried chicken at Ralph's but they didn't have any.  Spoke to Kurt and told him that he might not be coming back, and that his behavior this year was so bad that we are thinking he is not returning.  BUT WHAT WILL HE DO???  It is sad thinking that he is just not mature enough to go to school.  KR thinks he should be drug tested.

We wheeled the milkweeds over to Gilbert's as their worms are eating all the plants.  Our swarm flew into their tree.  KR got two swarms last night.  We are leaving tomorrow at 9 to get Kurt back.  He still has not registered for classes yet.

Post Mother's Day

So Mother's Day came and gone.

It is Tuesday night post, Mom's day, and I just cannot do this nightly.  It would be nice to remember what happened years later.  Will did text, although he asked that I put 40 dollars back, as he needed a hair cut.  He is spending almost every dime, and he gets about 750 twice monthly.  That boy gotta figure out how to save.  I take out 200 per pay period, so this time I gave 50 then 40 back.  I think I won't take any out on the 15th as he is spending two weeks in New York.  Maybe he will spend it with his girlfriend, so the cost would be lower.

Peter had a memorial lunch/dinner for Natasha at the 22nd street restaurant in San Pedro, where Natasha liked to eat.  There were 20 of us and it was really nice to see Pete and Ian, and Matt and all the other folks, like Tricia too.  Can't believe it has been a year since she left us.  Seems only yesterday that she was getting sicker.  I wish I had kept more of the journal then to remind me what my thoughts were.

Savannah, the new helper was suppose to work, but she called in sick, had to work for Liz on Saturday, and then she did it again on Sunday.  I was so mad.  I told her that she should tell Liz that she cannot work, as she had made a commitment to me, but she said she cannot do that.  Yolanda covered for Saturday, as KR and I worked all day at MMA, in Harbor City, or is it Torrance at the Harbor Church on Western.  I think it is Lomita.  We got out by 3 and went to church.  My back is still bothering me, and it rained pretty hard in SP on Saturday, although not a drop in Torrance.

After dinner, Tyler called and said he wanted to spend some time with me, on Mother's Day and all.  Make a long story short, he could not go back to Hermosa for some reason, and was at 24th and Cabrillo, so we picked him up, but on the way home, he said he needed to be dropped off after he visits with me and grandma back in Pedro.  KR is like, we are not taxi, just let me turn around and drop you off now.  So we did not get a visit.

His phone then goes on the blink, and his facebook page, so funny, changed his name from Estrada to Bingemann.  HAHAHA, so hilarious.  He finally goes back online 2 days later, saying that his phone was winging out, and he will fix things.

Kurt has three finals today, and mentioned that he might have to take Chem over again.  We shall see if we are going to pay or not.  We are driving up Friday to bring him home.  Said he is working as caregiver to make money for next year.  There might not be a next year.

May 6, 2016 Friday

So I think I am going to try to do a daily log thing.  This morning, after checking in on mom, I went to see Tim Olinger, I started getting flashes and floaters yesterday, morning, and I did NOT want to have a detach retina in the work.  App was for 9 30.  He dilated and I went shopping at 99Cent and bought watermelon, cherries, great cherries for 99 cent a pound, balloons for MOTHER's Day in two days.  He said there was no tear, but to come back in 6 weeks.

Yesterday was really weird.  Dad had an appt to get his teeth work on, as KR had a cancellation.  Dad had worn his #7 and #9, and 7 was starting to chip.  It took KR only 25 minutes.  Mom and I had gone to the pier for a walk, and we hurried back.  The farmers market was on so we parked at the Moose parking lot.  She didn't rest and said she was fine.

Dad was really exhausted and we came home.  Kelly came at 9 30 so I need to pay her one hour less next week.  Mom and dad and Kelly went to the exercise room, then Kelly text and said that mom is really dizzy and I rushed over.  Mom threw up before I got there and was really not feeling well, very dizzy.  She didn't eat, hardly all day, and would not drink much and was not hungry.  I gave her ginger tea and then called Dr Lee's office.  I drove down there with her pee thinking that it might be bladder infection.  And I just remembered that they did not call me, and it is now 5 30 too late to call, so maybe it was nothing that is why they didn't call.

So I was over there at least 6 times.  Last night, mom went to bed by herself at 7 30 and did not even try to tuck dad in.  She said she was tired.  I wonder what she had and no one had any idea.

So after the appt with Tim, I brought mom the watermelon, and Yolanda said she wanted to buy some Depends diapers, so I found 6 packs and gave them to her.  Lo and behold, I needed her to work tomorrow, and she said yes.

We have new girl Savannah, who started just two weeks ago.  She text and said that she cannot work on Saturday as Liz called her to work.  I don't know why she didn't tell Liz that she was busy as she had said she would work several days ago, FOR ME !!!!  These days, good help is hard to get.  So I begged Yolanda, and she will work.  Adeli is so reliable, she comes every Friday night and saturday afternoon to Sunday morning.

I cleaned the left over radishes and marinated them and gave a jar to Yolanda, and will see if I like the pickling of the rest.  There were over 14 bunches, I think on Tuesday, and I finally got rid of them all. Then I walked the dog at the Strand while KR took care of some bee business at Richies's house and took them to John the Bee man.  We came home and had dinner.  It will be at the GOOCH's tonight. We were suppose to have Dinner for 8 but somehow the email never came to us that it was not good tonight.  I will check out mom's condition before we go to Bible Study.

Saturday March 23

KR gets up early and goes surfing.  He called and said Kurt should come down, surf is good.  Took Kurt half hour to get his act together, I think he went to bed at 12, and finally went down.  I went to the farmers market, got scraps, went to foster chicken, glad they are still there.  The jungle gym was been dismantled, and I gave them a bunch of lettuce.  Then to Sams for chicken, milk, bananas, etc.  Costco gas.  The Prius with the 11 gallon bladder for gas tank, at 320 miles and blinking gas light took only 8.5 gallons, so really should be able to drive another 50 miles at least.  I should try to drive around with a gallon of gas and see if I can get 400 miles per tank.

Came home and did laundry, and went to mom's and then they came home.  I went for a swim and a little jacuzzi, seems to help my back a lot.  KR went on a walk with the dog and Kurt went back to surf.  He actually got the smog thing done yesterday and got oil changed this afternoon.  I cooked the roast and we had a great dinner.  Kurt had wanted to go slack lining with Ben but came home for dinner.  He is now watching "Monster Truck" with dad.  That is one weird show, must be a man thing to be able to watch giant trucks jump berms and flip and rotate and guess at the points.  Not me

Tomorrow is Easter, happy resurrection Jesus

Good Friday

Suppose to be an interesting day that Good Friday and Annunciation Day both fall on March 25.  I couldn't get up this morning, had some kind of weird dream.  Went over to mom's to drop off stuff and stopped to see Rita, realizing that I forgot to go take my car in for the recall airbag.  Went home and came back to the garage, got the van and drove to Scott Robinson Honda.  I had to walk part way home my hip was hurting me, the right side.

After I got home, KR came home and we ate a bit and went to the church service at noon.  It was very interesting.  I think I can never give up any of my sons to be sacrificed and GOD did it for us.

After the service, Kurt and I went to the phone store.  Said his phone just quit working last night when he was out with Ben, slack lining at Del Portola Park, by the Ralphs on Rolling Hills Road.  KR said they smoked a lot of dope as his eyes were just blood shot when he got home.  I had gone to bed already.

Well, the phone was just fine,  Just needed to be shut down for a bit.  I was very relieved as it is a new phone, bought only around October.  KR took Gracie for a walk and I went riding around a bit, cooked some mashed potatoes and short ribs, and then jacuzzi at moms as my back was sore.  I brought mom and dad back for dinner, and mom loved all the food.  Kurt has been working at mom's and i have been paying him 10 bucks an hour.  Mom loves having him around.  We also made Kurt bleaching splints so he is getting his teeth whiter.

I will miss him when he leaves on Sunday

Another One Home

So one leaves and another one comes home.

Will left Sunday morning, and Kurt came home the night before on the BoltBus.

Tyler called Kurt yesterday asking for money, so I called him back and asked him if he would like some help with his phone bill.  He now has a new number, a 424 number and the 985 one from New Orleans is no more.  The kid is now in Nebraska and said that he is moving to Oregon with Nenna, his girlfriend, in June.  Sigh

Kurt went surfing with Ben this morning and then had lunch with Bobs.  He also went to the office for a bleaching splint impression.  His teeth are very yellow, so I thought he should have it done and he was amenable.

I had to get the paperwork needed for Brandon from Dr Lee so I drove to Jade Bakery and bought them a bunch of stuff, as I had been there several times this week, and asking for all kinds of forms.

We have continue education tonight at the Double Tree.  It is also Eddie C's birthday celebration so I made a bunch of lemon muffins and have to be there by 6 45 to celebrate, and then go back to the CE.

On Monday I volunteered at Parras Middle School, screening all the 6-7-8 grade kids using this 6 point scale to see if the kids need to see a dentist, etc.  It is through South Bay Children's Dental Clinic.  KR and I volunteered there a couple of weeks ago and worked on a bunch of kids, free of charge.  Give a Kid a Smile , or something like that.

Life if so busy, and I know it will change.  Tomorrow is Good Friday and we are going to the 12 oclock service.  Kurt has been working at grandma's watching them from 5-7 30 to make 10 bucks an hour.  Grandma loves to have him around.

Transition

So one son leaves and one arrives.

Will left this morning at 4 am for a flight to JFK and Kurt arrived last night via BoltBus to Union Station.  Andrew drove Will to Phillipe's Downtown and KR and I drove up to meet them, with Ryan and Kurt walking from Union Station to the restaurant.

Tonight, Sunday, we had dinner at Baja Fish Grill again, with Kurt driving from the Cove after he went surfing.  After dinner, we went to Mongolian Little Sheep Hot Pot on PCH and met Daniel Shen's parents who are here on vacation from Sacramento, and the kids, Daniel and his little brother are going to Disneyland tomorrow.  Kurt might go, and Ryan wants to go but something about Reza won't let him as they are going to Cancun on Tuesday.

Lovely can blog everyday, and I should too, as so many events are flying by, and some are actually news worthy.  Such as, Cotty died last night.  So sad that that lovable dog passed.  Diane called me this morning, and I missed the call, so I called her back and she said Cotty was not well, she rushed him to ER and they think there was a tumor that burst or something as he had an abdominal bleeding and she decided not to do surgery as he was 12.

She came by today and we had tea and I gave her the greens for her hens and rabbit.  Adam went back to school, and Eliot and Seth went to college tour and she is flying out on Wednesday to join Seth.

Will's week consisted of playing video game, watching TV, being on his phone and driving me nuts. We are considering not having him here if he continues to behave like that.  Here is a list of things:
No food in room
Take out trash
Take out compost
Don't leave dishes everywhere
Put TV back to same station when done, and turn it OFF
Close piano when done
Don't leave a mess on the floor, I am NOT the maid
Be considerate, tell us when you are leaving and coming
Lock up when you leave
Help around the house.....

Well, they are suppose to be adults, and yet do not behave like one

I chewed Kurt out as he was just a little jerk, thinking I was too hard on him

Natasha and Pete's anniversary is tomorrow......

The Big Boo Boo

So it is Tuesday, January 19, 2016. What's the big boo boo?  Well, I made a huge payment to FTB, Franchise Tax Board, and I should have made it to IRS.  Can I get it back, no.  I spoke to FTB today, and the nice gentleman Chris said that I will get it back after I file my tax return.

Well, so the scramble begins for money.  James, wired me some, Warren, will return some money he borrowed.  Diane loaned me some money, and we will be ok.  NOT flush, and have to watch what we buy for awhile, but hey, it keeps life interesting.

Christmas came and went.  Will came home on December 18, Lovely came in on December 16, and Kurt came in on Friday the 18th also.  Kurt played on the alumni water polo game on Saturday, and Chadwick, and had a GREAT time.  Of course he was mad about having to catch a flight Friday afternoon, while his last final was Friday from 11 - 2.  We prayed that he passes his classes, and last week, we found out that he got one C, one C- and a B-.  That is really good considering he had an F going into the final.  Why?  Too much drinking, smoking and LSD.  YUP, the kid sure makes us worry.

Mom and dad and Auntie Mary and Ricky came today to celebrate their birthday.  Auntie Mary's was the 7th, and she is 92.  Mom's birthday is the 30 and she will be 85, and dad is 97 1/2.  He is sure slowing down.  Sunday we went out to Killer Shrimp for dinner, and as it was really dark on the pier, he was freaking out, and could NOT WALK.  So we cut the pier walk short and came home.

We are leaving for Taiwan on the night of the 3rd.  Alan is coming this Friday and will stay for a month.  It is so weird that Lovely thinks it is ok for him to be on "vacation" by himself for one month in January, and two months in the summer.  KR would never put up, or go for that.  Just playing and eating and shopping.  At least Abby is coming this summer.

Will is doing well in New York.  BUT he is spending too much money.  He text me that he did not have the money to buy a plane ticket so I had to front the money.  As he asked so late, the ticket was over 700 bucks.  His spring break ticket was about 425, would have been 375 if he had gotten his schedule two weeks earlier.  He gets about 800 bi monthly, and yet spends every dime.  I worry about him and his finances.  Maybe he will marry someone who can rein in the spending.

Kurt, what can we say, too much partying.

Tyler has not contacted us since December 20.  He just posted that he is going to Oregon.  I will believe it when I see it.  He wanted to join the coast guard, he wanted to work at the airport, and he just continue to skate and no job.

Retirement is a hoot.......
