So we went back to New York City. What an experience. So different than the last one with Will. First of all, Dad and I flew in BUSINESS, yup, decided to upgrade, and keep the plebe back in cattle. He was rightly amused.
So it is August 30, and I have not had time to put down all that I felt during the trip. If I don't do it quick, the memories will fade and be distorted.
Over all, we had such a great time. We stayed at an Airbnb at 441 east 6th street, just next to Tomkin Park down in lower east side. Vinny was a great host and we paid dearly but it was the whole apartment on the third floor. There was a nice living room, a small kitchen, a nice bathroom and a bed room. But the bedroom did not have a door, sort of a large opening. But the amount of space was really worth it.
The two days we rode the bikes, wow, that was so interesting. Instead of getting on the Hop on Hop off bus, I thought we would love getting around on the bikes. Citibikes can be rented for about 10 bucks a day, and you have to "dock" it in every thirty minutes or else you get charged another 5 bucks. We rode all over. From the FDR drive to the Hudson River Park, to Chinatown, to Little Italy to the Empire State Building to Statue of Liberty landing. We rode everywhere. It was death defying to weave in and out of the buses, taxis, cars, other riders, and cops. Well, I got hit by a cop opening his car door. My right arm was really scraped up and it hurt a lot. It was officer Troung, but I didn't want to file a report.
Long story short, we made it to Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, United Nation, Chinatown shopping, eating at Little Italy, Time Square and the musical, Something Rotten. It was hilarious and we had a really good time.
On Saturday, August, we picked up our rental car, a tan FIAT, with more than 40,000 miles. Should have said no, and drove to West Point. I tweaked my back out and spent the next few days in agony. Could not even get from the counter at American Airlines to the gate. Had to be pushed in wheelchair. More about that later. We saw Will, and his friend Zaire, and went to the Palisades Mall, had mall food and then came back. He is still the same. We had two nights at the Fairbridge Inn. Monday morning we rushed back to JFK and flew home with me in pain and icing my back all the time.
