Monday - Saigon

It was a great day Monday, 1/28/19.  We arrived in Saigon with much anticipation of seeing James.  We ate breakfast and went to the shuttle that took us to the port gate.  James was there waiting with Vincent, and a driver name Kfois, or something like that.

We drove into Saigon and the traffic, wow oh man, wow, so so bad.  We drove to the cathedral, Notre Dame, and the Post Office that looks like an old train station, next door where Abby bought souvenirs.  Then it was to lunch.  We went to the famous Ngon Restaurant where James said it is hard to get a reservation.  Food was NOT ENOUGH, after what we have been having on the ship.

James then took us shopping for coffee, at HIS grocery store, near his house.  We bought a lot of coffee.  And then we went to his apartment, where he pays 1200 US dollars a month, and the cleaning lady does his laundry, cleans the house, and all for that little money, two bedrooms.  Why does he need that much room????  Vincent went to work.  He works at a hotel, English pretty good.  We also went to the hotel where he works, the downstairs lobby was so impressive, with mother of pearl walls, etc.

We got back on the boat to eat dinner.  Mom really liked having James around.  Held his hand the whole trip in the van.  We ate too much again.  The show was this opera singer.  It was ok.  We went to bed, while the Alagata's once again, went gallivanting around.
